Hello, I am Mine KARADENİZ. I was born in Zonguldak in 1977. Growing up in a small town and driven by my curiosity about living in Istanbul, I shaped my choices accordingly and began studying in the English Language Teaching program at Marmara University in 1994.

In my final year at university, the Teacher Training Program by Oxford University Press, which I attended in Istanbul, became a turning point in my career. Completing the program successfully and with the reference of a professor in my department, I had the opportunity to work at Istanbul Private Taş College, which has still been implementing the IB (International Baccalaureate) program, immediately after graduation.

During my four years at Taş College, I had the chance to explore the transformative effects of inquiry-based learning on both students and teachers and thanks to the training programs I received from Persona Life Consultancy Company under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ufuk Akın. To put the training into practice, I also had the opportunity to travel to England twice during this period.

In 2002, I returned to Zonguldak with the aim of working in an academic environment. Since then, I have been working as a lecturer at Bulent Ecevit University. When I calculate the years that have passed, the numbers genuinely surprise me!

I have raised a daughter and have always hoped for her to establish a successful presence in the field of languages that I have worked with great joy for so many years. Now, as I watch her navigate university life, I feel as though I am reliving the process and refreshing myself. Perhaps this feeling is the primary reason that I want to join the GRIT Team.

My greatest hobby is playing tennis. I believe that the effort and dedication I have shown in this area embody the saying, “It’s never too late for anything.”

So, with the motto “Starting is half the battle,” I greet the GRIT Team with enthusiasm!
